The participants will be introduced to the basic concepts of fire and life safety as they relate to the prevention of, or response to hazardous conditions. The participate will be introduced to the Occupational Health and Safety Act as well as the Internal Responsibility System (IRS) and the role of the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee. (JOHSC)
Participants will be introduced to the Canadian Food Retail and Food Services Regulations and Code, Health Canada and CFIA. Upon completion participants will be certified in basic Food Safety through TrainCan Inc.
The participants will be introduced to current concepts of health and personal care. The participant will be aware of the importance of providing support that promotes positive self-esteem, self-determination and independence in a caring professional manner.
The participants will be introduced to the concepts of standardized practices and the roles, responsibilities, policies and procedures for medication administration and management. They will discuss various drug classifications and review some common medications used in the field.
Participants will be introduced to concepts and procedures to helping a person developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Participants will improve mental health literacy, and will be provided the skills and knowledge to help people better manage potential or developing mental health problems in themselves or others.
The participants will be certified in the Mandt System, a non-violent crisis intervention training program. The training will focus on a positive behavioural support program designed to build trust and help de-escalate potentially negative situations, manage crisis and prevent injury.
Participants will be trained in Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS 2015) the Global Harmonized System (GHS) and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and it's regulations as it relates to chemical safety in the workplace.
The participants will be introduced to the basic philosophy and concepts of person centered and person directed planning as it relates to full citizenship and inclusion. They will discuss the importance of life planning with the individual and their family and friends and the role of the staff and supporting agency.
The participants will be introduced to the concept of positive behavior supports. The training will review various techniques on providing feedback on a person’s choices and encourage positive relationships that are based on respect, dignity and participation in decision-making.
The participants will be certified in a Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR Level C. The training will incorporate emergency scene management, shock, wounds, injuries, chocking, burns, bleeding and poisoning and all other areas mandated in the certification of an individual within the parameters of the course.
This course is for those individuals who do not have a current Standard First Aid CPR C certification.
The participants will be certified in a Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR Level C. The training will incorporate emergency scene management, shock, wounds, injuries, chocking, burns, bleeding and poisoning and all other areas mandated in the certification of an individual within the parameters of the course.
This course is for those individuals who have a current Standard First Aid CPR C certification and require re-certification. Proof of current certification is required.
